Calcium Chloride Liquor 34-36%
Calcium Chloride has a very low freezing temperature (approx. -52°C). It is commonly used in cold food processes e.g. ice cream.
It shares the similar chemical characteristic of Calcium Nitrate except it will cause severe corrossion to any wetted parts made of stainless steel if the pH is not properly controlled.
Calcium chloride is used in concrete mixes to accelerate the initial setting, but chloride ions lead to corrosion of steel bar, so it should not be used in reinforced concrete. The anhydrous form of calcium chloride may also be used for this purpose and can provide a measure of the moisture in concrete.
Liquid calcium chloride is often used as a water clarifying agent and drainage aid in water or septic tank treatments. This brine is a very soluble septic additive and helps in the removal of flocculants from industrial waste water before it is released into waterways. Liquid calcium chloride is also used as a waste water treatment in order to help neutralize alkaline water and to maintain pH control.
Calcium chloride is a dough-strengthening and raising agent, as well as a preservative, says the World Health Organization. It helps to make food, like pickles, taste salty, without actually adding salt, increases fruit and vegetable firmness and tenderizes meat.
